WELL, I’m convinced now we’re not going to win away this season!

A 0-0 draw at Sunderland was probably the last result we wanted with hopes high going into the game of finally securing that illusive away win.

But, a few days after the event, let’s look at the reality – it’s a result which is a lot worse for David Moyes’ side.

For us it’s a point nearer to safety, especially given that games are quickly running out for the teams below us.

It leaves us in 13th – unlucky for some – a good eight points clear of Hull City in 18th and two further ahead of Boro in 19th. Sunderland to all intents and purposes look pretty doomed on 20 points, seven adrift of safety.

Even if one of the bottom four – Swansea are on 27 points – the goal difference differences between us and all of those teams is superior.

The return of two points from the run of four away games is disappointing – let’s not pretend it isn’t – but the two games we lost we probably deserved more from while the points at Hull and Sunderland also stopped those teams gaining ground.

After an international break in which we’ll all be hoping Tom Heaton and Michael Keane feature for the Three Lions against Germany and/or Lithuania, we return to home comforts.

It will have been nigh on seven weeks since our last home game before we kick off against Spurs on Saturday week and I am sure Sean Dyche and the lads will be looking forward to getting back to the Turf as much as we are.

Our record at home was always going to be the thing that helped us survive this season and in Spurs and, three days later, Stoke City we have two chances to get more important points on the board.

We’ve beaten Liverpool and Everton, lost narrowly to Arsenal thanks to a goal that shouldn’t have been allowed and drawn with champions-elect Chelsea at the Turf this season so neither Mauricio Pochettino not Mark Hughes will be fancying a trip north I’m sure.

It’s been a tough slog on the road this last few weeks but we have to get ready to lift the roof for the lads to see them over the line.

I think another five points will be enough for safety – it would be wonderful to make giant steps towards them next week.
