SEAN Dyche believes Burnley are due a slice of luck on the road as they seek to end their away day woes at Sunderland next weekend.

The Clarets saw another opportunity to claim a first away win of the season come and go at Anfield on Sunday.

They had looked comfortable with the advantage Ashley Barnes had given them in front of the Kop in the seventh minute but the luck was on Liverpool's side in first-half injury time when a fortunate ricochet off Ben Mee allowed Georginio Wijnaldum to equalise.

While Dyche accepts the Clarets have to make their own luck he believes his side are due a moment of good fortune that could end their away hoodoo this season.

"I don't search for luck, you've got to make your own, but it's nice every now and again if you get a sliver of it, maybe we just need that little twist of fate," he said.

"We haven't had that moment go for us, on the road, the ball drops in the right place, they made a fantastic block from Barnesy, Lowts late on got his foot over one, almost caught it too sweet, and it flies over."

Despite the defeat Dyche was, for the most part, happy with his side's performance and the way they dealt with Liverpool's attacking threat.

"There are a lot of good qualities to the way the side are performed," he said.

"I was really pleased with the tactical performance, its tough against teams like this, they have good rotation, they get bodies forward, I thought we really snuffed out a lot of that, and made the game as much about us."

One area Burnley have improved on away from home is their goal return. Having scored once in their first seven Premier League away games they have netted eight in their last seven.

But that hasn't seen in an upturn in results and Dyche knows his side have to be on the right end of the goals column.

"We had 11 efforts at goal, and they had 10, its unusual for a side to come here and do that," the Clarets chief said.

"Possession doesn't win games, goals do, and unfortunately they were the right side of the goals.

"We have to in other away performances because we've certainly done that at home, it's about taking that away."

Although Sunday's defeat made it 16 in league and cup this season without an away triumph Dyche was preferring to focus on the performance and he is confident that if his side can reach that level in the final five away games of the season then a result will fall for them.

"The main thing is to keep performing, I speak about it all the time because I believe in it," he said. "If we keep performing like that, things will come your way.

"There's no guarantees, but I think, over time, it comes your way.

"Swansea we didn't perform like that, despite a decision going against us. On Sunday we were back to a very strong performance."
