THE last time Burnley won an FA Cup fifth round tie was 14 years ago this month when Fulham were beaten at Turf Moor.

The Clarets, then in the second tier, had beaten Grimsby and Brentford to reach the fifth round, where they were drawn to face Jean Tigana's Fulham at Loftus Road, with Craven Cottage being redeveloped.

Fulham were in the Premier League during this season but the Clarets held their own in the capital and Alan Moore fired them ahead after just four minutes, only for Steed Malbranque to equalise on the stroke of half-time.

That was how it finished and it meant a replay at Turf Moor on Wednesday, February 26 2003.

Stan Ternent's side made light of the one division gap between the sides and outclassed their Premier League visitors.

Gareth Taylor headed the Clarets in front on 27 minutes, before Ian Moore made it two eight minutes later.

Fulham's task was made more difficult when Sean Davis was sent-off early in the second half for a wild lunge on Tony Grant, before Drissa Diallo completed the rout for Burnley.

The Clarets faced Watford in the quarter-final, with the Hornets progressing and a certain Sean Dyche sat on the visitors bench.
