RECORD signing Robbie Brady insists there is more to come from him after marking his full debut in spectacular style.

The £13million winger’s stunning 25-yard free-kick earned Burnley a point against runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea and extended the Clarets unbeaten home run to eight.

Brady gave the Turf Moor faithful a glimpse of his talent with his goal, but the Republic of Ireland international said he was disappointed with his overall performance and warned that he will improve in the weeks and months ahead.

“I’m over the moon with the goal,” he said. “I’m not sure about the performance.

“I wasn’t fantastic, I was a bit disappointed with that but I’m still gelling in and learning the way the lads play.”

Brady was the name on everyone’s lips after his goal, the first direct free-kick scored against Chelsea in four years.

And he was delighted to have contributed on his first start.

“I’ll take it if the lads can cover me on the mistakes I made,” said Brady.

“Joey (Barton) said to me after that I’ve no problem doing your running if you can keep doing that.

“He said to me we’ll see which way the wall lines up. I put it down and he gave me the nod to go ahead and I fancied it.

“I was having a look at him (Thibaut Courtois) and trying to work him out before I took it. I knew if I hit it properly he wouldn’t get to it and I managed to do that.

“I’m here to work hard and show what I’m about. I didn’t get to do that the way I wanted but I ended up with a goal that led to a good result so I’m happy enough.”

Brady was full of praise for his teammates after another battling display at Turf Moor took them to 30 points for the season.

“The lads were fantastic, it just shows exactly what they’re about,” the 25-year-old said.

“The togetherness and the grit they showed, especially the last few minutes, were excellent to see it off, it can always get tense in the last few minutes but the lads were sturdy and didn’t give them anything.

“The lads have been excellent, we’re still building. Hopefully I can add a few better performances in and keep building on these points.”

Brady was impressed with the workrate of his new teammates and admitted it was something that had convinced him to make the move to East Lancashire.

“It’s definitely different (to other clubs),” he said. “It’s well drilled but it appealed to me from the first conversation I had with the manager.

“I want to work hard and I’m looking forward to showing it in the next few weeks.”
