GEORGE Boyd wants to stay at Burnley beyond the end of this season, but admits he is yet to be offered a contract extension.

The 31-year-old’s deal expires in the summer and while Dean Marney, Kevin Long and Stephen Ward signed one-year extensions in September, Boyd has entered the final six months of his deal uncertain as to what the future holds.

Boyd joined the Clarets from Hull City at the beginning of the 2014/15 Premier League campaign, penning a three-year contract.

The 1-0 win over Southampton was his 99th league appearance for the Clarets and his 105th game in all competitions.

Asked after Burnley’s eighth Premier League win of the season if he was keen to extend his stay at Turf Moor, Boyd said: “I’ve not heard anything yet but I love it here so we’ll see.”

Boyd played the full game in the win over the Saints and hailed the Clarets remarkable home form that has propelled them to the top half of the Premier League.

“It’s incredible when you look at it,” he said.

“We’ve just got to keep on going because there’s a 10-point gap now which is great for us. A few more wins should hopefully be enough.

“People hate (coming to Turf Moor). It’s credit to the players because we get in amongst them and they don’t like coming here because they’re not used to that intensity with the crowd on our side.

“When you consider last time out, with four wins, we were nowhere near it. We’ve nearly got the points total that we got for the whole of that previous season (in the Premier League) already. It’s massive for us and long may it continue.”

Burnley have a 10-point cushion on the bottom three but are only three points behind West Brom in eighth, and Boyd believes the Clarets should be looking up rather than down.

“We can only look up now,” he said. “You look at how well West Brom have done this season and we’re only a couple of points behind them.

“To be in the top half is amazing for this football club and we’ve just got to keep on progressing. We can’t look down, we need to keep looking up.”
