STRIKER Sam Vokes is targeting another strong home performance against Everton on Saturday as the Clarets look to make Turf Moor a fortress.

Burnley have picked up all of their points in front of their own fans so far this season, and with their problems on the road continuing in defeat at Southampton last weekend, Vokes knows how important home form could be.

The Wales international bagged his second goal of the season in the 3-1 reverse at St Mary’s and his penalty was also Burnley’s first away goal this season.

He’s also netted at Turf Moor against Everton’s Merseyside rivals Liverpool and with the Clarets having put in good performances against the Reds and Arsenal, Vokes knows there is no reason to fear an Everton side who secured a draw at Manchester City last weekend.

Ronald Koeman’s side were the first to stop City winning at the Etihad Stadium, but Burnley have already won twice at home this season, and they were seconds away from beating Hull City and drawing with Arsenal before conceding late goals.

“We’ll be back in training, working hard, and it’s important that we focus. We’ll put (Southampton) to bed and look ahead to Everton,” said Vokes.

“We’ve done really well at home. It’s been a strong point for us this year and we know that we need to make Turf Moor a fortress.

“Away from home we definitely need to look at that and go in to games with a different mentality than we have done.

“They’re another good side but at home we’ve been brilliant so hopefully we can get a result.”

Burnley have conceded three goals in all three of their away games this season, but they’ve shipped only three goals in five Turf Moor fixtures.

Despite defeat on the south coast Vokes said the spirit within the squad remained high ahead of the visit of the Toffees this weekend.

“The boys are good,” he said.

“Obviously they’re down because nobody likes losing and everyone is competitive and wants to win games.

“We’re a bit down from the performance but we’ll pick ourselves up for a big game at home on Saturday. We’ll be ready for that.”
