PATRICK Bamford has hailed Burnley as the most united football club he has ever come across as the Chelsea loanee seeks to force his way into Sean Dyche’s starting XI this weekend.

The 23-year-old made his debut coming off the bench against Hull last Saturday and then netted his first goal in club colours for the Under-23s on Monday.

Bamford is now on to his sixth loan move from parent club Chelsea and revealed he had taken time to adapt to the intensity and physicality of training sessions at Gawthorpe, but feels he is now sharp and ready to go.

“It’s a great club. The togetherness is unreal and I’ve never seen a group of lads that are so close,” he said. “There are no cliques or anything within the dressing room, which is really nice.

“You can see it at the training ground – everyone from the kitchen staff, from all the other help, everyone is so tight-knit. Everyone is together. I’ve come across tight-knit groups before, but this one really does stand out.”

The Clarets are renowned for their fitness and ability to out run teams, and of the training so far Bamford added: “There’s more intensity and it’s physically more demanding. When you go in to any new training regime it takes time to adapt. I’m finally adapting so it’s been good.”

Bamford had been a regular goal scorer in his early Football League loan moves, for MK Dons, Derby County and Middlesbrough, but last year he failed to find the back of the net in 16 appearances for Crystal Palace and Norwich, with 13 of them in the Premier League.

The former Nottingham Forest trainee is determined to reignite in front of goal, but insists he also has other attributes he can bring to the forward ranks at Turf Moor.

“I’ll bring my movement and cleverness,” he said. “Up until last year I’ve always had a very good goal-scoring record, it’s just unfortunate that last year I didn’t get much of a chance. Hopefully I can add goals for the team.

“I saw what (the Premier League) was about last year even though I didn’t get too much of a chance so now it’s up to me to grab the bull by the horns. I need to take my chance to show what I can do.”

Bamford’s challenge is now to pressure Andre Gray and Sam Vokes for a place in the starting line-up, but he is aware there is plenty he can learn from the Clarets’ strike duo as well.

“There’s stuff I can learn from them for sure,” he said. “They’re good players so I’ll learn from them. It will be good and I’m looking forward to playing alongside them.

“He (Gray) scored a cracking goal against Liverpool and I think once I get my chance in the team I’ll be able to do the same.

“The most important thing is about helping the team and if I help them by pressing from the front, putting myself about or claiming assists and goals, I’ll try and help in any way I can.”
