WE give our player ratings for Burnley's opening day defeat to Swansea City at Turf Moor.

TOM HEATON 7

A little unfortunate with the goal having made a good save from Llorente’s flick. Showed safe hands when he was tested from distance, but generally had a quiet game.

MATT LOWTON 6

Swansea’s threat came down the wings and both full-backs were given a tough time. The fresh legs of Jefferson Mont-ero caused Lowton plenty of problems late in the game.

MICHAEL KEANE 7

A solid display from the centre half as he came up against a striker several levels above the quality of those found in the Championship.

BEN MEE 6

Lost the ball in his own half in a very dangerous position during the first half but, thankfully, Llorente couldn’t take advantage. Other than that he didn’t do much wrong.

STEPHEN WARD 6

Like Lowton had a very tough time against Swansea’s rapid wide men. Should have been booked for two early fouls on Mo Barrow.

GEORGE BOYD 6

While Swansea’s threat came down the flanks Burnley’s wide man struggled to really influence the game.

DAVID JONES 7

Some good deliveries from corners and free-kicks in a good display. Neat in possession.

DEAN MARNEY 8*

A WHIRLWIND display from the experienced midfielder, and while the quality might not have been of the very highest level nobody could fault the endeavour.

SCOTT ARFIELD 6

Like Boyd he struggled to really get into the game and eventually made way for Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

SAM VOKES 7

Didn’t quite catch his half-volleyed chance cleanly but still forced Lukasz Fabianski into a smart save. Showed he can operate at this level.

ANDRE GRAY 7

Snatched at one volley in the first half but showed his threat with the counter attack he launched that ended with a fierce drive that forced Fabianski into a save.

SUBS

Johann Berg Gudmundsson for Arfield (75), Lukas Jutkiewicz for Jones (87)

Subs not used: Paul Robinson, Tendayi Darikwa, James Tarkowski, Fredrik Ulvestad, Michael Kightly
