SEAN Dyche is hopeful that Ashley Barnes and Lukas Jutkiewicz have avoided any serious problems after both felt their hamstrings in the 4-1 win at Bradford City.

Barnes walked off down the tunnel two minutes before half-time after aggravating his hamstring playing a pass.

He was replaced by Jutkiewicz but he didn’t appear for the second half after feeling his own hamstring in the closing seconds of the half.

But Dyche believes both made the correct decision in opting to come off.

“Hopefully it’s not too serious, he (Barnes) felt his hamstring was a bit tight and a bit sore and he got off immediately,” said Dyche.

“I’ve no problem with that, this is no time for heroes, we need fitness, that’s the key thing.

“Juke’s hamstring was tight as well which is why he didn’t come out for the second half. It wasn’t strained or anything but we just can’t afford to take risks at the minute so that’s why those two came off. We have to be careful.”

Despite those fitness concerns it was another good workout for the Clarets at Valley Parade as Andre Gray scored twice, taking his pre-season tally to four, while Ben Mee and Michael Kightly also found the back of the net.

And Dyche was pleased to see his side turn in a good performance against their League One hosts.

“It’s about fitness but it’s also about performances,” said the Clarets chief.

“I reminded the players before hand that as we get deeper into pre-season the fitness gets more natural and we want the performance level to rise.

“I thought there was a good level of both today, physically they looked strong and there was some excellent play, so it was good reminded of what the group is about and what the team will bring to the table.”
