BURNLEY have made a second bid for Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick.

It is understood the Clarets have returned with an offer in the region of £6million for the 24-year-old, but he is still valued higher by the Rams.

An initial offer of around £3.5million was turned down by the Championship side earlier this week, and despite coming back with a much improved bid it looks like Derby will still be holding out for more.

Hendrick starred for the Republic of Ireland in their run to the knockout stages of Euro 2016 and Burnley have a need to strengthen in the middle of the park, having seen Joey Barton leave for Rangers this summer.

They are also interested in Brighton midfielder Dale Stephens and saw a £4million bid for the 27-year-old rejected by the Seagulls earlier this week.
