BURNLEY have not received a new bid from Leicester City for defender Michael Keane, contrary to reports.

It was reported earlier today that the Clarets had rejected a second bid from the Premier League champions for the 23-year-old, but the Lancashire Telegraph understands that is not the case.

Burnley turned down a bid in the region of £15million, which may include add-ons, for the former Manchester United centre half earlier this week, and they have not received a new offer from the Foxes since then.

That doesn't mean that Leicester have given up the chase for Keane, who made 44 appearances as the Clarets won the Championship title last season, and they could yet return with another offer later this week, but Burnley remain determined to hold on to one of their key men.

Leicester's head of recruitment Steve Walsh is known to be a fan of Keane, who impressed in a loan spell at the King Power Stadium in the 2012/13 season, and Claudio Ranieri is keen to add defensive competition for established centre back pair Wes Morgan and Robert Huth.
