BURNLEY have confirmed that full-back Luke Conlan has joined League Two side Morecambe on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old, who failed to make a senior appearance for the Clarets, played 16 times for the Shrimps last season after moving to the Glove Arena on loan.

Born in County Down, Conlan arrived at Turf Moor on a scholarship in 2011 and went on to be a key part of the side that reached the 2012 FA Youth Cup semi-final, where they lost to 3-1 to Blackburn Rovers over two legs.

A knee injury then ruled him out for a spell and in April 2014 it was announced that he would not be retained.

But he recovered from the knock and signed a one-year extension at the start of the 2014-15 season.

In July 2015, he joined Scottish Championship side St Mirren on a season-long loan and made his debut in the 3-1 Scottish Challenge Cup win over Berwick Rangers.

He went on to make four appearances for Saints before returning to Turf Moor in January, before sealing a loan switch to play under Jim Bentley at Morecambe as the club finished 21st in League Two.

Conlan has represented Northern Ireland from Under-16 level, including winning eight Under-21 caps.
