BURNLEY goalkeeper Tom Heaton has been named in England's 26-man squad for this summer's European Championships preparation matches, and is set to be included in the final 23 for the tournament in France.

Heaton hasn't missed a game for the Clarets this season playing a key role as Sean Dyche's side secured the Championship title.

The 30-year-old, who has kept 20 clean sheets this campaign. has been a regular in the Three Lions squads over the past 18 months but has yet to win his first cap.

He is now likely to start one of England's three warm-up games ahead of the tournament in France which begins in June.

England entertain Turkey on Sunday at Manchester City's ground before playing Australia on Friday, May 27, at the Stadium of Light. Roy Hodgson's side conclude their warm up with a Wembley showdown against Portugal on Thursday, June 2.

England will then face Russia, Wales and Slovakia in their Euro 2016 group.

Heaton's place in the final squad of 23 looks almost assured, barring injury, given that only three goalkeepers were selected in the 26-man squad which will have to be trimmed by three by the end of the month.

Heaton, who was capped three times at Under-21 level by his country in 2008-09, is one of three goalkeepers selected for the tournament by Hodgson with Manchester City's Joe Hart and Southampton's Fraser Forster also included.
