BURNLEY'S dressing room spirit is one of the most important ingredients in their success, according to the Clarets promotion expert David Jones.

The 31-year-old is seeking a fourth promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, and a second with Burnley having played a key role in the 2013/14 campaign.

It was two years ago this week that they secured a top two finish in that season with a 2-0 win over Wigan at Turf Moor.

Many of that squad remain at the club and Jones believes the experience of getting over the line is a benefit, as is the strength of character inside the Clarets dressing room.

"The more experienced you are helps," Jones told Sky Sports. "I've just been lucky to play for some good managers and some good teams.

"There's no secret but the common theme I've experienced in good teams in the Championship is the spirit in the dressing room. It counts for so much and is probably one of the most important ingredients in this league."

Promotion two years ago came as something of a shock, with Burnley predicted to struggle that season, especially after losing Charlie Austin to Queens Park Rangers on the eve of the season.

But after a year in the Premier League they were amongst the favourites this time around.

"It is different. We've evolved as a club," said Jones.

"There are a lot of things going on off the pitch that are moving the club forward. For example, the new training ground.

"The expectations from the fans and the town have increased and with the outside factors such as the media, there's more expected of us now. That brings different pressures and a different challenge."

While Burnley lost key players such as Danny Ings, Jason Shackell and Kieran Trippier in the summer, they did bring in new faces, including Championship top scorer Andre Gray from Brentford.

"Andre has done fantastically well," said Jones. "He's scored goals wherever he's been and he's been vitally important for us. We needed to replace Danny Ings and while they're different players - they're not like for like - it's still been effective in the way that we play."
