MIDDLESBROUGH striker Jordan Rhodes said he is unsure what sort of reception awaits him at Turf Moor tomorrow.

Former Blackburn Rovers hitman Rhodes scored twice at Bolton on Saturday as Aitor Karanka's side came from behind to make it six wins on the bounce and remain top of the Championship table.

Rhodes also scored twice in two East Lancashire derbies at Turf Moor but in his five appearances against the Clarets in total for Rovers he was never on the winning side.

"I don't really know what sort of reception I'll get at Burnley as a former Blackburn Rovers player - but the atmosphere is going to be fierce, that's for sure. It's a massive game for both sides," said Rhodes, who made an £11million switch to the Riverside in January.

"I've got a couple of mates in the Burnley side - Scott Arfield from our days together at Huddersfield, and Michael Keane from when he was on loan at Blackburn from Manchester United, before he went to Burnley. That adds a bit of something to the occasion."

Victory for either side would edge them closer to automatic promotion. Burnley go back above Boro at the top with the three points, but a win for Karanka's side would leave them five points clear of the Clarets and within touching distance of the Premier League.

"Lots of people say it is the decider - they're getting caught up with the hype, but we must keep calm," said Rhodes. "There's lots to play for: in fact there are still 12 points to play for. But we have to just concentrate on ourselves at Turf Moor.

"One thing's for sure, there's no room for complacency. there are still 12 points to play for. But the fact is we are only a few games away from having the chance to play some of the best players in the world in the Premier League. The club deserves to be up there - and we appreciated what is at stake for us, the club and the fans."

Third placed Brighton will be aiming to take advantage of the fact the top two face each other tomorrow night.

The Seagulls were in rampant form on Friday night, beating Fulham 5-0 to make it five wins in six.

They host Queens Park Rangers at the Amex Stadium tomorrow and are currently just two points behind Burnley and four behind Middlesbrough.
