TOM Heaton is determined to continue repaying the faith shown in him by Sean Dyche after the Clarets goalkeeper clocked up his 100th appearance for the club in the 2-1 win at Rotherham.

The 29-year-old will meet up with his England teammates today for their Euro 2016 qualifying double-header with Estonia and Lithuania as impressive performances for Burnley continue to see him recognised by national boss Roy Hodgson.

Burnley are Heaton’s fourth permanent club but this is the first time he has reached 100 games, and he admits signing for a club where he could settle down was a key factor in his decision to move to Turf Moor.

“I’m delighted to reach that milestone. In the time I’ve been here I’ve taken part in most games which has been absolutely brilliant,” he said.

“I’ve not reached treble figures at any club so it’s certainly something that was important when I signed here that I’d make it home and a place where I can get settled and produce consistently.

“The manager signed me and put faith in me and I’m grateful for that. I want to keep repaying him under his management and his staff.

“I’ve done a lot of close work with Billy Mercer and I feel like my game is getting better all the time, which is important to me.

“Billy and I have a great relationship so I’m very grateful to him as well for all the work he puts in.”

Having reached the century milestone Heaton, this season’s Clarets captain, reflected on some of the highs in his Turf Moor career after joining on a free transfer from Bristol City.

“Personally, my league debut was special against Bolton on a sunny day at Turf Moor in the 1-1 draw,” he said.

“The first game against Blackburn at home was great and then you’ve got the away game where we won, Wigan at home when we clinched promotion, and Chelsea in the Premier League.

“There were a few in the Premier League and another one was obviously captaining the side for the first time this season.

“Thankfully the club has made great progress during my time here so it’s been a great combination.”
