SEAN Dyche is hoping to add two new signings before taking his squad to France for a pre-season training camp, and reiterated that he is building for a future at Turf Moor.

The Burnley manager was immediately linked with the Leicester City job in the aftermath of Nigel Pearson’s sacking on Tuesday night.

He has since dropped down the list of bookmakers’ favourites for the position.

But regardless of the speculation, Dyche stressed his focus is on Burnley.

“As I said at the end of last season, my position hasn’t changed, I’m focused on what we do here and what we’re trying to achieve, what we need to do. It’s just the same,” said the Clarets boss.

The 44-year-old fielded questions about his future at Turf Moor immediately after relegation from the Premier League, when their 1-0 win at Hull City proved insufficient to stave off the drop.

When asked in his post-match press briefing whether he had the desire to stay at the club and mount another promotion push he said: “There’s a desire from me to get through today, go home and see my family and make sense of everything.

Asked again about his future, he added: “We’ll see, that’s another day’s story.”

At the time he was described as non-committal but Dyche responded to those suggestions by saying he had been merely trying to process what had happened to his club just minutes beforehand and that his mind was purely on his players and his family.

He maintains a similarly firm stance now.

“I was told that I didn’t use the language that I would be here, but I am here,” he said.

“The focus is still the same.

“We intend to be productive going forward and challenging to be back in the Premier League.

“It’s always speculation.”

Dyche’s main concern is incomings at Turf Moor, and after signing right back Matt Lowton from Aston Villa as a replacement for Kieran Trippier, he is closing in on the next target.

Striker Jelle Vossen was in talks over a potential £3million move from RC Genk on Tuesday. The Belgium striker, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, is believed to be keen on a return to England.

He is understood to be a prime target, following top scorer Danny Ings’ move to Liverpool, but no agreement has yet been reached.

Burnley have also been linked with Wigan Athletic midfielder Emyr Huws and Nottingham Forest wide man Jamie Paterson.

Of the prospect of adding to his squad before leaving for their training camp in Évian-les-Bains, south east France, Dyche said: “There are a couple of things pending that we think we’ve got a good chance of getting in before we go to Evian.

“There are no guarantees but there are certain situations that we think could happen.”
