BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche is expecting Kieran Trippier to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur, after confirming talks and “an active deal”, but said there would not be any other Turf Moor exits unless he sanctioned them.

Captain Jason Shackell has been linked with a return to Derby, with the Rams understood to have had a £2million bid turned down by the Clarets.

Derby are likely to be undeterred in their pursuit of their former skipper, and an improved offer is anticipated, while goalkeeper Tom Heaton has been linked with Southampton and Aston Villa after his first call-up to the England squad.

But although Dyche was reluctantly resigned to losing Trippier, on the back of Danny Ings’ transfer to Liverpool on July 1, he is adamant there will be no further Turf Moor exits.

“Apart from Ingsy and Tripps, everyone is under contract, we’re in a different position than we were two and a half years ago, and there’ll be no point teams bidding for our players - it will be us that decides who goes out,” he said.

“It won’t be a case of clubs bidding and they just go. We’re too powerful now in the market.

“The only thing that will change is if I decide that changes.”

But Dyche said it was not a case of issuing a hands-off warning.

“It’s not a case of any of that. Generically speaking we’ve got players who are all under contract. I don’t think there’s a player at this club who is under threat under contract,” he continued.

“We believe in contracts, we stay strong to our word about our players. It will be my decision if any of that changes.

“Other than Ingsy and Tripps the rest are all pretty safe and secure at this football club unless I decide differently.

“It will be my decision if it changes beyond that.”

Trippier’s circumstances are different, however, as the chance to stay in the Premier League in the event of Burnley being relegated was an agreement reached with the former Manchester City youngster when he signed a new contract following promotion last summer.

Dyche said the 24-year-old, who is understood to have had a medical with Spurs yesterday, could have moved on 12 months ago but instead showed his commitment to the club by opting to stay to help keep the Clarets up.

Spurs have triggered a £3.5million release clause in Trippier’s contract, with Manchester City set to receive 40 per cent of any profit for Burnley’s £400,000 January signing in 2012.

That means that Burnley will be left with £2.26million should the move go through at the £3.5million price.

“The thing Kieran’s done that has been terrific is the servant he’s been to this club,” added the Burnley boss.

“When we took over he was good going forward, and we’ve helped him become an all-rounder. I think that’s why he’s attracted the attention.

“He made a great decision last summer to sign a contract, stay with the club, and we had to honour that in the respect that if we didn’t stay in the Premier League, then we’d allow him the chance to go on.

“I think that’s an honourable thing to do with someone who’s been such a good servant, and said he’d stay with Burnley in the Premier League.

“He’s a very good player and it’s no surprise people have come knocking.”

Of the proposed switch to Spurs, Dyche said: “It’s an active deal.

"All parties are open with lines of communication, so we know what’s going on, other than when it’s going to actually happen, but it looks like it’s a long way down the line.”

Burnley have yet to do any summer business in terms of new signings, but Dyche said they had already been planning for life without both Ings and Trippier.

“We’re always actively looking at targets we think we can get in,” he said.

“There are a couple of things that are already in process now.

"But it’s not always easy, even throwing money at things now, because some of the Champ-ionship clubs have so many wealthy backers that they can turn deals down if they choose.

“We’re opening channels to possibilities.”
