BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche says he wants to take the club forward and build towards another promotion season.

The Clarets boss said he was “irked” about being asked of his own future in the immediate aftermath of relegation at Hull City.

Dyche did not commit to an answer at the time, saying “There’s a desire from me to get through today, go home and see my family and make sense of everything,” Dyche, who is on a rolling contract at Turf Moor.

Asked again about his future, he said: “We’ll see, that’s another day’s story.”

But Dyche has since stated that he did not feel the timing of the question was appropriate.

And on the eve of Burnley’s final Premier League home game, against Stoke City tomorrow, he said he was planning for next season at Turf Moor.

“I was asked about it (future) last week and it irked me, because my story is not bigger than the club’s,” he said.

“We’d just come out of the Premier League and a reporter asked me and I said ‘It’s not relevant’, and it’s not relevant because I have always made it clear I am the manager and the custodian for the football club.

“The club will move forward and so will I and I will move forward with it.

“We are planning for the summer, we are planning beyond that and we are planning for next season.”

There has not just been speculation about Dyche’s future but also that of his players.

Burnley have dealt with rumours about Danny Ings’ future for over 12 months after he helped to fire Burnley to promotion with his 26-goal season, while Kieran Trippier has attracted attention before during his debut top flight season.

In recent month Clarets goalkeeper Tom Heaton was tipped for an England call-up on the back of some impressive individual performances, and any international ambitions would benefit from remaining in the Premier League.

But, like Dyche, he also offered his commitment to the club.

“Obviously it’s been fantastic in the Premier League but I’ve had a fantastic time at Burnley this season and last,” he said “I’ve got two years left here and I’m thoroughly enjoying it, so the focus is 100 per cent Burnley.”
