DANNY Ings looks certain to leave Burnley this summer, and thoughts are now starting to turn to who could replace him up front for the Clarets next season.

Ings seems set to depart Turf Moor when his contract expires at the end of June, with the 22-year-old expected to join Liverpool.

Sam Vokes and Ashley Barnes will both hope for a regular place but it remains to be seen whether two players generally known as ‘target men’ will line up together.

The Clarets are likely to bring in another striker and, while the club will certainly have their own ideas on the subject, we look at some of the potential options who could be lured to Turf Moor.

Joe Garner

Lancashire Telegraph:

THE 27-year-old played for Sean Dyche at Watford and has impressed with 27 goals for Preston in League One this season.

Although he was born in Blackburn and started his career at Ewood Park, he was a boyhood Preston fan.

His future may depend on whether Preston triumph in the play-off final.

Intriguingly Blackburn could be another good fit for Garner if Jordan Rhodes or Rudy Gestede depart, as Gary Bowyer worked with the forward at youth level.

Adam Le Fondre

Lancashire Telegraph:

LE FONDRE has been made available by Cardiff after a successful loan at Bolton, and would provide pace and finishing ability.

The 28-year-old helped Reading to promotion in 2012 and then scored 12 goals in the top flight.

The Stockport-born forward is looking for a permanent move back to the north west.

David Nugent

Lancashire Telegraph:

IT remains to be seen how regularly Nugent would be likely to play at Leicester next season, and whether the Foxes would let him go.

He has dropped behind Leonardo Ulloa and Jamie Vardy in the pecking order after scoring only five times this season, but did net 22 times last season to help Leicester to promotion.

Enjoyed his loan spell with Burnley in 2009/10.

James Wilson

Lancashire Telegraph:

THE 19-year-old burst on to the scene at Manchester United late last season but is likely to struggle for regular game time at Old Trafford and could be loaned out for experience.

Highly rated and could be a real goal threat in the Championship.

Nahki Wells

Lancashire Telegraph:

SEAN Dyche has previously been a fan of Wells and considering swooping for the Bermudan when he was still at Bradford.

Instead the Clarets signed Ashley Barnes and Wells joined Huddersfield for around £1.5m.

He has not completely set the Championship alight since then, but neither had Scott Arfield at Huddersfield and look how his Turf Moor move turned out.

Andre Gray

Lancashire Telegraph:

HAS impressed many with 16 goals in the Championship since joining Brentford from Luton.

The 23-year-old could be on a few shopping lists if the Bees fail to secure promotion, and would probably get a glowing recommendation from departing Brentford boss Mark Warburton – a good friend of Dyche.
