BURNLEY fan and former England women’s goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis thinks the Clarets will need to win three of their remaining five games to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Brown-Finnis is a lifelong Burnley supporter and has been a regular at Clarets matches as a co-commentator since her retirement as a player in January.

The 34-year-old was at Goodison Park on Saturday to watch Burnley lose 1-0 to Everton.

“We’ve got five games left and I’d say we need to get three wins out of that,” Brown-Finnis said.

“It is going to be tough for them but a lot have people have said that from the start of the season, before they kicked a ball. They have to just stick to their principles. What they have done really well all season is work their backsides off.

“Even when the formation changed on Saturday after the sending off, they were really disciplined.

“Nobody moaned about it or half did their role, they all applied themselves completely to their roles.

“I’ve not come away from a Burnley game this season where I’ve not felt proud of the lads, regardless of the result, because they leave absolutely everything on the pitch.”

Brown-Finnis spent most of her club career at Everton but admits there were no divided loyalties on Saturday.

“I should say it quietly but it was Burnley all the way for sure!” she said.

“Everton is a second home for me but I wanted three points for Burnley.”
