Morton manager Jim McInally believes the fact his team are still a point ahead of Stirling Albion speaks volumes for his side, writes Alison McConnell.

There is just one point between the two at the top of the Second Division and it's something Mac is delighted with, given the 10-game winning run the Binos are on.

"The fact they have done so well and won so many games says a lot for them, but it also says much about the character in our team that we remain a point ahead," he said.

"It's exciting at the minute as every game and every single point means something and that's always the way you want football to be.

"We are halfway through the season and I can't praise these lads highly enough because they have been excellent up until now.

"All we have to do now is make sure that we keep it going."

There could be a return for Scott McLaughlin tomorrow at Ayr United after his ankle problems, but he won't be rushed back, while Alex Walker is struggling with a viral infection.

"Ayr always make it hard for us," said McInally. "They are under a little bit of pressure just now because they haven't done as well as they thought they would and I know it will be difficult for us tomorrow, but we've to go for all three points."
