ONE of the UK's largest retailers has received a major healthy eating award after persuading Glaswegians to swap chips for healthier choices.
John Lewis in Glasgow is the latest major company to receive the Healthyliving Award launched by the Scottish Consumer Council last year to make it easier for people to buy healthier food when they eat out.
Head chef Michael Brown, 36, right, who has altered even sweet foods to make them healthier, said: "People said if we didn't serve chips we would not survive but we've proved them wrong.
"To achieve the Healthyliving Award we took popular dishes and found ways of making them healthier. It has gone down really well with staff and shoppers."
