PARTICK boss Ian McCall will today complete a triple signing swoop when deals for Falkirk duo Mark Twaddle and Ryan McStay are completed, along with the signing of St Mirren keeper Craig Hinchcliffe.

As exclusively revealed in SportTimes on Monday, McCall vowed to make three signings before the end of his first week in charge at Firhill.

And, despite McCall being on a pre-arranged golf holiday in Portugal, his mobile has almost been in meltdown as he's attempted to bolster his squad after he released 12 players earlier this week.

I understand that the trio will all pen two-year deals at Firhill later today.

Former Buddies No.1 Hinchcliffe was outstanding for McCall on loan at Queen of the South last season - and he views the fact he is a goalkeeping coach as ideal for developing Northern Ireland under-21 international Jonny Tuffey while also pushing the 20-year-old all the way for the position between the sticks.

With Kenny Arthur leaving, McCall viewed the luring of a pair of experienced hands as vital - and managed to fight off competition for the keeper from Morton and of club the Doonhamers.

The signing of McStay and Twaddle represents something of a coup. Twaddle can play either on the left of central defence or at left-back and played 19 games for the Bairns in the SPL, including scoring a winner against Rangers at the Falkirk Stadium.

At 20, McCall is sure Twaddle has plenty of development ahead of him and is keen to work on moulding the youngster on the training paddock.

The signing of McStay will at last provide Thistle with the type of playmaker absent from Firhill over the last few years.

The 21-year-old made five first-team appearances for the Bairns, where he has found it impossible to dislodge the talismanic Russell Latapy.

And with Jags skipper Jimmy Gibson set to pen a new deal when he returns from holiday on Monday week, McCall will have the ideal minder to allow McStay's midfield talents to flourish.

The next step in McCall's re-building process will be the search for a strike duo. He is thought to be tracking a powerful target man while also looking for a speedster to add pace to a Thistle attack that has been largely pedestrian.

The early signs are that McCall will utilise a contact book that reaches into the SPL while also employing his knowledge of the First Division.
