POLICE raided a remote Highland cottage and found thousands of pounds

worth of cannabis plants growing in a bedroom, Inverness Sheriff Court

was told yesterday.

Fiscal-depute Ron Phillips said: ''The cottage resembled an annexe of

Kew Gardens, if it were not for the cannabis plants being grown.''

Alistair Jack, 25, of Dalhousie Street, Garnethill, Glasgow, was

jailed for six months after he admitted illegally growing the drug at

Kincardine Cottage, Pityoulish, near Aviemore.

At an earlier hearing, Colin Myles, 24, also of Glasgow, was jailed

for a year for his part in growing the drug.

This was later reduced to six months' imprisonment on appeal.

The court was told that Myles was the brains behind the plot to grow

the cannabis plants.

A defence agent said Jack helped to bring in the soil for the

operation and rigged the lighting needed to cultivate the cannabis.

He added: ''Jack received no payment or reward in kind for his part.''
