Burnley are currently working on major improvements to their Gawthorpe training base and have made huge strides on and off the pitch since Steve Cotterill paid just £30,000 to bring Duff in from his old club Cheltenham Town 11 years ago.

“The difference between then and now is night and day,” the defender said.

“We had eight players and one training pitch when I joined, but if you look around now it’s all starting to come together.

“The plans are fantastic and we’ll have a great training ground when I’ve gone!”

The 37-year-old made his 350th appearance for the Clarets against Manchester City.

“I am made up with the testimonial,” he said.

“I’ve spent a lot of time here and it’s a great club to play for. I have made a lot of friends and it’s a real family club.

“I’ve had a lot of support from the fans, the board, the players and staff, so it’s something I am very proud of.

“I have made a lot of good memories here.

“Two promotions is something I am very proud of.”
