BURNLEY are braced for a bid from Liverpool for top scorer Danny Ings.

The Reds are reportedly keen to get a deal done for the 22-year-old, who has seven Premier League goals to his name this season, before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday.

The Clarets have been insistent throughout January that Ings is not for sale and would still be at the club when the window closes, but Brendan Rodgers hopes an offer to loan the England Under-21 striker back to Burnley for the rest of the season could persuade them to soften their stance.

Ings, who joined the club for £1million from Bournemouth in August 2011, is in the final six months of his contract at Turf Moor, and is not currently in talks over a new deal.

He has also been linked with Tottenham, Newcastle and Southampton, and if he moves to a domestic club when his contract expires Burnley would receive a compensation fee of around £3million.

However, he has also been linked with Real Sociedad, with David Moyes having watched him twice this season, and if he moves abroad the Clarets would receive compensation of just £200,000 due to Fifa rules.
