SATURDAY's win over Hull was a ten out of ten performance for me, it was a massive result and the importance of getting that first win can't be under-estimated.

I think they deserved to win, I know Steve Bruce wasn't happy with the performance of his team, and they did play badly, but I don't think we let them play and we didn't give them any time.

The atmosphere around the club after the game and in town was fantastic, it shows how much belief there still is on and off the pitch. It was a like a weight had been lifted and you could see how confident everyone was after the game. The players and supporters can't wait to get back for the next game now.

They are right to believe as well, there are games coming up that we can compete in, Stoke and Villa are teams we should be looking to take points off and if we can pick up a few more wins then even better.

The performance on Saturday reminded me a lot of what was good last season, the pressing was good and they played at a high tempo, it was a united team and they all covered for each other and were around to help each other, they made Hull look like a very, very average side.

I was speaking to Sam Vokes before the game and he said he would be back in a fortnight, which would be a huge lift to everyone at the club. Obviously it will take time to get match fit and he will have to play a few reserve games, but he is a sensible lad and he will be able to manage his return to match fitness.

Ashley Barnes was Danny Ings' third different strike partner in as many games but I thought he did a good job. He got his goal and the two of them looked to have a good understanding. Obviously when Sam is fully fit it could add a lot to the squad, as his partnership with Danny was superb last season, but at the moment I think Ashley and Danny deserve to play together again.

Every time you pick up a paper or watch a football show on6 TV they are writing Burnley off, but we are still in touch. It isn't the case that there's only four or five teams who could go down, it's wide open and I think there's as many as 12 teams that could go down. We just need to keep picking up points and stay in touch, one you're cut adrift it is very difficult to get back but as long as we stay within three points or so then everything is possible.
