Burnley striker Vokes steps up comeback bid

SAM Vokes has taken a significant step in his recovery from knee surgery.

The striker has resumed light training after rupturing the cruciate ligament in his left knee in a fixture against Championship winners Leicester five months ago.

And the Welsh forward is closing in on first team training, albeit geographically at the moment.

“He’s doing well, we’ve had him on the top pitch with us and he’s going along nicely,” said Sean Dyche.

“He’s still not close by any means, but it’s great to see him start to get on the grass, jogging along, and I’m delighted for him. It’s been a real blow for him, but he’s in good hands, in a fantastic place in a positive environment.”

Danny Ings has been called up to the England Under 21s squad for two upcoming European Championship qualifiers.

England have a double header away to Lithuania on September 5 and Moldova four days later.

Dyche feels it will not be long before Ings gets off the mark in the Premier League.

“He’s been really alive for us, but strikers want goals,” said the boss.

Good news to hear Sam is doing well, but the timing of this story is just a CYNICAL ploy by the blood-sucking Burnley directors to deflect fans' anger at the disastrous summer transfer dealings and the paltry £4 million spent out of £60 million.

Shame on BFC's spineless SEVEN directors for running up the White Flag of surrender just two games into the season.

Resign the lot of you - I would prefer to have the Oystons in charge!!!! At least they do not attempt to hide the fact they are plundering money from their club.

Dyche (great manager), good players with a tinpot League 2/Conference board of directors.

Angry Burnley fan of 45 years.

Any truth in the rumour Dyche has contacted Leeds about the vacant manager's job?

No harm in testing the water at a bigger club with more ambition.

Instead of telling us- why don't you go to BFC and tell the board exactly how you feel. They are far more interested than we all are in what you have to say.

Oh dear. It's 1:00 pm and our resident bipolar alcoholic has had a skinful of cheap cider and anti depressants. Posting under different username on different threads with exactly the same banal, boringly predictable sentences. His cack life only kicks into life when the LET post stories for him to dribble all over. A serial stalker, online bully, a sad and isolated old man. Sat in his flat spinning hate into barely coherent drivel day after day. It's sad until you realize he will probably be very likely to be ill, overweight, angry, unemployed and hated by his neighbouts. Pity the fool sat all alone on his angry little flat. Skint. Sad. Depressed. A sort of cry for help that everyone just ignores.

Ignore the drunken fool he can barely get out to stock up on his cider let alone hold a coherent conversation with a member of the public. He's having a tough time of it apparently and just lashing out. Harmless really and hated by his own fans exactly because he makes them look so bitter and twisted. Many are OK, this one is just a weird old fool.

Pity Vokes isn't fit because whilst the rest have been kidded into thinking Ings is the real deal, it is in fact Vokes who is our best player. I'd be surprised if he doesn't attract attention once he's back up a running and bound to be feeling mugged at signing a new deal and watching the Div 1 floaters being brought in.
Ings in talks with Hull yet?
