CLARETS boss Sean Dyche is relishing a battle with Manchester United on Saturday – and insists the Red Devils’ wobble means nothing in the heat of a Premier League battle.

Dyche sends his Burnley men into the lunchtime showdown with Louis van Gaal’s struggling superstars with both sides looking for a first win of the Premier League season.

And both were dumped out of the Capital One Cup in midweek but Dyche knows recent displays will count for nothing when the whistle blows to start the most eagerly anticipated Turf Moor game of the season.

“How could it be even bigger? It’s Manchester United coming to Turf Moor, I don’t think it needs to get even bigger,” said the Burnley boss.

“We know the challenge that is in front of us in the Premier League in general, never more so than when the big guns come to town.

“Despite what people are questioning about it, at the end of the day I saw them at Sunderland and they’ve still got van Persie and Rooney up front, still got Mata - that’s three who aren’t bad just off the top of my head, so you’re looking through the team and I’m not thinking they’re going to come here and by some miracle not be a strong side, because I think they’ll certainly be strong.”

Dyche admits there is a chance of a United backlash after they were hammered 4-0 at MK Dons on Tuesday to follow on from a draw at Sunderland and defeat to Swansea at the start of the season but he added: “I don’t know.

“We’ll only know when the whistle blows and we’re ready to play, that’s the reality of it.

“There’s a bit of hoo-ha about Manchester United at the moment, I don’t look at that, I look at the players they’ve got, the manager they’ve got, the club they are.

“I don’t think you start looking at them for any other reason other than they’re a fantastic club, a very good group of players and a renowned manager.

“We’re not naive enough to think that there’s any other reason they’ll come here to play hard and try to get a result, and of course we’ll do that as well.”
