Sordell quickly settling into life at Burnley

First published in Sport

BURNLEY striker Marvin Sordell believes settling in quickly at Turf Moor will help him find his best form when the Premier League season starts next month.

The former Bolton man found the net twice in the friendly win over Austrian outfit FC Grossklein last weekend and admits he was pleased to get off the mark so quickly.

He said: “It’s good to get off the mark so quickly, I’m here now and I just want to work hard and do all I can to show the gaffer that I’m ready to get into that team and be a part of the group as well.

“I’ve settled down quite quickly to be honest, the group that is here is great.

“It makes it a lot easier than it could be to settle into a team environment.

“It’s been a good week, it’s been a tough week but it’s good to spend a lot of time with the lads and get to know them.

“All the hard work we’ve put in whilst we have been here can only stand us in good stead for the season.”

He is our marquee signing so I expect a bit more from our 1 goal in 5 game Bolton reject. Double figures would be acceptable if he plays every game, I predict 9 goals mainly in the early rounds of the cup for him.
I hope Vokey Dokey gets well soon.

At the moment Gollum is having a little lie down so Clive the carer is allowed on the laptop. As you can see Clive didn't finish school and has his own mental health problems. But if you ever wondered how public money was being spent in Blackburn this is it. Providing freaks with time and money.

This should be seen as a compliment really. The Blackburn lot have to express their views before anyone from Burnley comments. The reason why clearly is because the only link to the Premier League for our deluded neighbours for the foreseeable future is to comment on Burnley Forums. We should take pity really.
Enjoy battling it out in the mid table of the championship guys and feel free to keep making an appearence on here so we can tell you what it's like to be in the Premier League.

Having looked at other forums over a period of time I have become bemused by the attitude of many Rovers fans. If you check out United, City, Chelsea or Arsenal forums, not to mention Liverpool and Tottenham, teams who really do have a lot to shout about, you know really genuinely big clubs, not pretend ones, there is not a quarter of the arrogance of Rovers fans. Now, if you apply a little psychology to this, what we are faced with on Burnley stories on a daily basis is the "little man syndrome". We all know that there is a tendency for small people (no insult intended to those who don't) to "talk big", to be louder, to shout more. We all know this syndrome exists but I thought it was a problem suffered by individuals, but this seems to be a collective problem. Perhaps we shouldn't get so annoyed with them, but it doesn't make it any less annoying I suppose.

y every rovers fan i know is fatalistic.
pour some coffee down your mouth cos you are a total mug if you dont think united, liverpool, arsenal and chelsea are extremely arrogant.

city fans used to be fatalistic like dingles and rovers fans - but their recent influx of mullah has quickly changed their perspective.

and as for spuds fans (and weztam) fans just listen to any football phone in and you will see arrogance on a different level from them two. for example weztam fans are convinced they won the world cup and tottenham fans think they have some jehovahn right to be in the champions league. give you a for instance league cup final spuds vs rovers. we were above them in premiership, had had more recent success, and a better results record against them in prem than they had against us. however, we were never given a prayer, we were just there to make up the numbers etc etc - well which bunch of arrogant so and sos ended up with a bl00dy nose?

I can only go off what I read on here, and I didn't mean ALL Rovers fans but certainly many (most?) who come on here. Burnley and Rovers are very similar clubs, always have been and always will be, but to listen to many Rovers it's David and Goliath, which is, of course, nonsense. We accept that we are a small club and even the smallest of successes is hard earned, but there are many Rovers (I suspect the younger ones who are post Walker) who seem to genuinely believe Rovers are a big club with some kind of divine right to grace the prem. If a United fan (actually I will admit to their arrogance, although they do have a lot to shout about) came on here putting us down I would grudgingly accept that, but when the supporters of a club whose only recent success came about because of a large influx of money, but who otherwise are no bigger or better than us, come on here as though they are talking about some non-league club then that is the kind of unwarranted arrogance I am talking about.
Rovers have a great history, like us. They've had moderate success, like us. The support is not dissimilar (and I'm NOT going to be dragged into that one). We are both small (ish) Lancashire clubs. The older Rovers fans I know are fine, but the post-Walkers are indeed appallingly arrogant above their station.

don't be daft - arrogance...virtuall

y every rovers fan i know is fatalistic.
pour some coffee down your mouth cos you are a total mug if you dont think united, liverpool, arsenal and chelsea are extremely arrogant.

city fans used to be fatalistic like dingles and rovers fans - but their recent influx of mullah has quickly changed their perspective.

and as for spuds fans (and weztam) fans just listen to any football phone in and you will see arrogance on a different level from them two. for example weztam fans are convinced they won the world cup and tottenham fans think they have some jehovahn right to be in the champions league. give you a for instance league cup final spuds vs rovers. we were above them in premiership, had had more recent success, and a better results record against them in prem than they had against us. however, we were never given a prayer, we were just there to make up the numbers etc etc - well which bunch of arrogant so and sos ended up with a bl00dy nose?
Excellent post, and bang on the money.

But the ones who come on here aren't really your average Rovers fan, more what's left in the Blackburn gene pool when everything with an IQ greater than a garden snail has been fished out. So we can be almost OK with the odd decent specimen but they should be polite just to prove they're not some genetic monstrosity or have been run over 5 times before making high school. And that moron tom!

Ever the perv our Tom. Nothing gets past that crack in his closed curtains, except perhaps the sort of normal everyday life he gave up on a long time ago. A psychiatrist might count the number of references to incest and family members in posts from Blackburn fans like Gollum and wonder if they weren't using the club as some sort of pervy outlet for their own fantasies. They tag it to others, but talk about it incessantly, constantly, almost like they really want to try it but daren't say. I don't know another set of supporters who seem so familially obsessed. It's like they project their own sick fantasies onto us, the dirty little piggies.

So right, Jack Walker was to blame for fooling these poor little deluded 'Blackburn' fans into thinking they were as big as man utd, the whole country knew it was phsyco babble but the folk's down the road there, how do you go from being a top 8 2nd div side with 4500 gates in the early 80s, to a powerhouse prem side that fills the ground for the champions league game against trellaborgs, then take so many fans down to Cardiff for the fake cup final, I suspect those 2 crowds are the real fan Base of Blackburn, pity that the Walker foundation sold you down the river, never mind, a few more years and you may have a chance of beating premier league Burnley
