Defender signs new two-year deal with Burnley

This Is Lancashire: Luke O'Neill Luke O'Neill

YOUNG right back Luke O'Neill has signed a new two-year deal with Burnley.

The defender was signed by the Clarets from Mansfield in the summer of 2012 on a two-year contract with 12-month option.

But after impressing on loan with York City and Southend last season, Burnley boss Sean Dyche put new terms to the 22-year-old.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal and that the gaffer has given me the chance to be here for another two years," said O'Neill.

“I’m looking to get fit now after the injury I sustained whilst I was at Southend last season.

“I’m back here looking to play and compete.

“I know that will be hard now that we’re in the Premier League but if not, then I will be looking to go out on loan again if that is something the gaffer wants me to do.

“I’m happy to be back here with a great group of lads and I’m thoroughly looking forward to pre-season.”

It's baffling this blue infatuation with Danny Ings.

However Chris Brown 43 games 9 goals last season and Luke Varney has managed 8 goals in 50 games ovet the last two years.

If I supported Blackburn Rovers I would be more concerned about our own summer recruitment because that, so far, is way below expectations of any Rovers fan.

Still, they obviously have nothing better to do.
Sad, really.

Nothing sad about it. How ever much we spend, however much we don't spend, it doesn't matter, we will always be favourites for relegation from the Premier League. You can laugh as much as you like, but I would rather be getting turned over by the cream of the crop than worrying about getting turned over at Rotherham. I won't be laughing if that happens to you though, I'll be going to bed after Match of the Day.

Headless chickens? Must be an Ewood joke in there somewhere.

Looking that way. But if you're player of the season, head and shoulders above the rest then the reports of 11 mil Fulham are offering for a decent scorer means who knows? It's obvious that all clubs are looking to replicate the Ings/Vokes partnership that powered us into the PL so Ings' value is increasing just like Rhodes is. If you were an ambitious championship club or recently relegated PL club and could get a Vokes/Rhodes or a McCormack/Ings and keep both fit you're almost guarantee top 4. For PL clubs Ings is an unknown so will they splurge 10-12? Maybe in January, so has Ings signed yet? Yes. He's registered and contracted to BFC. Will he start? More likely than not unless you engage in wishful thinking.

Well, both Chairmen, together and individually have said he is going nowhere this summer window. Dyche has said that. Ings has said that. I think it fair to say that he's not leaving during this transfer window.

That means he's going to continue to play under the provisions of the current contract, a Championship player contract. Maybe he seeks to impress the world and leave in the january window.

Alternatively, he will sign the extension he's been offered as reported, moving him to Premiership wages.

I think he starts with us. After that, frankly, its hard to say.

Almost as p155 poor as sordell with 11 goals in 56 games in the championship which is a goal every 5 games whereas Brown scores every 4.7, you'd have been better off signing Brown than donkey sordell. Brown was free Sordell cost 500k, for a donkey
Embarrassing recruitment policy.
