Dyche not looking abroad for his summer signings

BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche says he is likely to ‘buy British’ this summer.

The Clarets boss is working with a transfer kitty for the first time since taking the Turf Moor reins in October 2012, after steering the club into the Premier League.

But it is unlikely there will be investment in players from overseas, largely because Burnley’s scouting network does not yet stretch that far.

Most of Dyche’s signings last summer, and in January, were Brits.

Only goalkeepers Alex Cisak and Danijel Nizic were the exceptions, but both Australians had experience of English football.

Cisak had played all his career in England, including a spell at Accrington Stanley, while Nizic had been on trial with the Clarets the previous season following an earlier spell with Portsmouth.

Swede Alex Kacaniklic had a loan spell with Burnley from Fulham in Dyche’s first season, but again the winger had spent all of his career in England.

However, while Dyche is likely to continue to shop for homegrown talent, he says the overseas market is one that he would be keen to explore in the future.

“There have been occasions where it’s been mooted around that I’m not interested in European players and that’s absolutely not the case,” he said.

“At my last club at Watford we didn’t have the finance to recruit properly from Europe, and we’re similar here now.

“We have a recruitment department, we’ve worked hard to build it over the last year if not 18 months.

“But to go into Europe that’s increased costs in wages, increased personnel, and all of those costs have to be paid for.

“So we have to look at the English market first because we know it as a staff and our recruitment people know it.

“The odd one possibly might align from our contacts outside of Great Britain, but they still have to be appropriate for the needs of the club and to help move it forward.

"The reason why the European market has opened up to a lot of clubs is because they put a lot of resources into recruiting from that market and that means a lot of personnel on the ground watching game after game, player after player. We haven't been in a situation to be able to afford to do that so therefore it does narrow our market slightly.”

Agreed Bobber, unfortunately our budget of 12 million might just be able to snag one Pl quality striker like gesture. Better to look abroad and get better value. The risk is it takes 12 months for them to bed in, by which time we'll probably be in the bottom three.

I the headline should read 'Burnley can't afford to send scouts outside the UK'
that would be more appropriate.

I also think they know what will happen......the overseas players will be saying 'Burnley? Who are they? are they a real club?? or 'Sean Dyche?? who's that??? is he made up??

However with the sale of Ings (2million) and other money making schemes, raffles and cake sales you may be able to bring a player in.

Have a good day boys, and remember your mums always right- you really are her special little soldier

I am amazed any of my fellow clarets fans have stayed on here. I am equally as amazed that the LT have not banned this idiot with his multiple personalities.
What does not surprise me is just how this idiot has reacted to the reversal of fortunes in East Lancashire. Just accept it, we went up, you didn't.
This will be my last post on the LT football section until this (possibly these) idiot(s) has/have been banned.

I love coming on this site. Not for the journalism, that's bloody awful! No I come on here because I love to read the Rovers fans comments and laugh at just how the once so smug have become so bitter and twisted, with their envy and mental inability to accept where our respective clubs now are, and the ever widening gulf between them (and it will get wider). They try to cling on to absolutely anything, but it always turns out to be a hope that never materializes. As for TurfMoorTom or Anotherpounding or whatever he goes by now, he can't be too far away from a breakdown or a stroke, the whole thing has taken over his life! He goes to bed praying that when he wakes up he'll be back in good old 1995! Poor lad.

"Burnley’s scouting network does not yet stretch that far"

A quote from your ouse of drivel about recruitment -

That is what he is saying you fool . The headline is down to the nodads that write on these articles. You have to work within the fiancés of the club. Something your club should try and do. Still it just shows the jealousy you have of the Clarets being a Premiership Club.

Just wanted to say I'm delighted with the posts on the Trippier article being taken down. More of that should happen until we get back to real banter and wit and intelligence on the posts. I don't mind the jealous ones coming on here and having a go (they've nothing else to look forward to) or even with decent comments (it does happen) but the drivel that is sometimes posted (by Clarets as well, unfortunately) is just time wasting nonsense. I'm not into censorship at all and free speech is our right but, considering some things on here I would say for once "well done Telegraph".
All we need now is for that muti-faced idiot who pretends to be a Rovers fan (I believe he doesn't even like football) to get shunted off to computer wasteland and things can start being fun on here again.

houseclaret - as a rovers supporter i empathise with your posting. these boards are invariably full of drivel these days and there is no decent debate, banter or gentle rid digging. but you are correct about taking down comments so some of the idiots who write their nonsense will be prevented from their diatribe.

you are also correct that it is not just rovers contributors - take a look on rovers pages there is one particular poster who start at 9am and goes through to midnight - despite several bannings it still metamorphasises into another sign-in, and when challenged - it says it is banter! - nowt of he sort...its an idiot that evolution has passed by.

Hasslem, far be it from me to stand shoulder to shoulder with a Rover (it won't happen again, honest) but you are correct and I think that all lovers of football and reasonably intelligent banter should do our best to clean things up a bit. I don't visit Rovers pages these days (apart from after a derby or a story relevant to both clubs) but I am led to believe that you have your quota of dodgy "visitors". My answer to this is simple; I NEVER reply to or comment on certain posters, regardless of what they write. The only time I may have been caught out is when the idiot multi-faceted fool creates yet another "character" that I didn't know of, but that is short lived and I tend to know his drivel anyway and am usually aware now.
Good luck.

What does not surprise me is just how this idiot has reacted to the reversal of fortunes in East Lancashire. Just accept it, we went up, you didn't.
This will be my last post on the LT football section until this (possibly these) idiot(s) has/have been banned.
Well he’s upset is old sticky fingers because they are about to lose their manager at BollEwood and have been rejected by two players and others are going soon as well. Also I think that Steve Kean will return and bring Shebby with so he’s glue stiffing to lighten his mind and these absurd posts are the result. Just have a laugh at them that’s all they’re worth.

that would be more appropriate.

Yes because your overseas scouts are amazing aren't they. Ronaldhino was almost in your clutches wasn't he?
