Well done lads.

The best right back in the Championship in Trippier two seasons running, the best centre back in Shackell, and the best striker in Ings who was also awarded the Championship player of the season. Just waiting for confirmation of Dyche as manager of the year and Burnley FC as team of the year, there can be question. Outstanding season.

Hughes and McCormack could be worth a look for next season.

Honoured by your fellow professionals. That has real weight behind it.

Bit of fun. The 1972/73 side was brilliant with their direct promotion campaign, as was was this fabulous side. Which players would you select from that side and this, to create a combined team?

1973
1. Stevenson 2. Docherty 3. Newton 4. Dobson 5. Waldron
6. Thompson 7. Thomas 8. Collins 9. Fletcher 10. Casper 11. James

2014
1. Heaton 2. Trippier 3. Mee 4. Marney 5. Shackell 6. Duff 7. Kightly
8. Jones 9. Vokes 10. Ings 11. Arfield

My combined
1. Stevenson 2. Trippier 3. Newton 4. Dobson 5. Waldron 6. Shackell
7. Arfield 8. Marney 9. Casper 10. Ings 11. James

The best of both worlds - possibly!

The only ones that stick out to me are Stevenson, Dobson and James.
I was at Deepdale - great day but an obvious draw from the start given Preston's need of a point for survival and already promoted Burnley needing a point for the championship. I recall after Burnley's equaliser there was hardly a ball kicked in anger. The last half hour or so was a bit of a farce. Incidentally the second spot went to QPR I recall. Bit of an irony really considering this season.

I was at Deepdale too. A great day. With you about the score and why. Waldron's goal was a scorcher - 25 to 30 yards as I recall. I have to say that I thought Dave Thomas was an exceptional winger. Not quite as good as James but still a corker. And QPR in the mix then as now too. Dave Thomas wen to QPR of course. I also rated Waldron as one of the best centre halves I ever score. Casper too was exceptional.
