CLARETS fans from Brooklyn to Brisbane celebrated promotion to the Premier League this afternoon.

Thousands of exiled Burnley fans tuned in via satellite television, radio and the internet to follow the news of their idols’ day of destiny.

A packed Turf Moor was the focus of their excitement, whatever distance they were away from East Lancashire, with an outpouring of relief when Ashley Barnes put the team in front after 25 minutes.

And there was further euphoria when Michael Kightly's free kick made things even more comfortable shortly before half-time.

Journalist Daniel Bentley moved to New York City in 2012.

Prior to the match, he donned a Sean Dyche mask on the banks of the Hudson River overlooking Manhattan.

He said: “I’m recovering from food poisoning but watching the Clarets go up made me feel much better. What a fantastic season we’ve had. I can’t wait to get to Turf Moor, a Premier League stadium.”

In nearby Brooklyn, Gordon X, tweeted: “It's 10am in New York but I've found a bar in Brooklyn that's showing the game - the Black Swan. No Nay Never!”

Anthony Heys, from Cowpe, Rossendale, was on holiday in Gran Canaria, following the match from his smartphone.

He said: “The first people we spoke to when we arrived were Clarets fans. I was very nervous before the match but we’ve done it.”

In South East Asia, Clarets Indonesia, excitedly tweeted the coverage of the game to their followers.

A Burnley fan teaching in Hangzhou, China said despite the game kicking of at 10pm and having classes the following morning, he stayed up to listen to the game.

Vincent Corrigan, on the North American Clarets Facebook page which has members from all over the USA and Canada, said: “I didn't realise this until late but the mighty Clarets were live on a satellite channel. I was able to watch us get promotion. What a day, what a team.”

Fans from far afield also travelled to Burnley for the game, including Branko, from Montenegro, who arrived last week to take in the Blackpool and Wigan games along with his specially designed flag.
