Burnley boss Dyche baffled by defeat to Boro

This Is Lancashire: Burnley boss Dyche baffled by defeat to Boro Burnley boss Dyche baffled by defeat to Boro

SEAN Dyche admitted he was left scratching his head after Burnley suffered back-to-back home defeats for the first time under his watch.

Not only was the Clarets boss baffled by not being able to convert one of 27 shots registered, he was mystified at not being awarded a penalty when he felt there were at least two clear claims.

Both Danny Ings and Ashley Barnes were impeded in the 18-yard box in the second half, but referee Dean Whitestone turned a blind eye.

It meant Jacob Butterfield's breakaway 51st minute goal was enough to settle this afternoon's game, and make Middlesbrough the first team to do the double over Burnley this season.

But with the Clarets looking to edge closer to automatic promotion to the Premier League, Dyche was adamant it was not for the want of trying to earn at least a point.

“It was total domination and unfortunately a situation where things outside our control have affected the game," he said.

"Their keeper is man of the match, and the officials weren't man of the match.

"We were scratching our head at everything.

"It's a top end performance by our standards, totally dominant, fantastic energy, fantastic quality on show. It's incredible the ball doesn't arrive in their net at some point.

"But it’s not the first time decisions have gone against us this season and we’ve learned to grin and bear it.

“We've had seven penalties not given this season, that's nine now, but we know what we are about and we have performed fantastically well again today.

“There were so many positives and we never stopped searching for at least an equaliser."

Oh, what fun it is to see
The dingles lose again:

Dingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride

Well if we lose every weekend then so be it. This time we will be better equipped than the last time under OC and under him we didn't lose every week.

Best thing Is at least we will be playing in the premiership which will be the envy of most barstewards supporters and I for one am pleased your be watching us rather than your shower. Fool.

You always get freak results at this stage in the season. On another day we would av won 4 nil. We played decently well and created enough chances to win 3 games.

Funny how the championship didn't show all our chances yet it did theirs. Ings clean through n blazed over, shackell header off line, countless last ditch blocks.

4 games left to get 5 points. Play like we did n we will b fine.

You can guarantee that once every season when you throw everything at an opposing keeper he ends up playing 'superman'.
That's football - Roll on blackpool (currently the worst team in the Championship, just ask leeds)

So, you like poems eh Remember this one?

To fans of the chicken farm called Blackburn Rovers,
You got beaten by Burnley and your season is over,
Fat Dunn couldn't save you, your luck had run out,
We should have won the last three, of that there's no doubt,

The one dream you dreamed of, it didn't come true,
For the Clarets are better than the rubbish in blue,
A defeat was your nightmare; you hoped not to see,
It'll play on your minds, seeing us in such glee,

And as for your future, it doesn't look bright,
You're a really bad club and your end is in sight,
When Venkys sell up and your players get the sack,
You'll go bust and go down and you'll never come back,

But don't get emotional and try not to cry,
Because no one else cares if the rovers should die,
You can moan all you like; because no one will hear,
We're all toasting the Clarets and having a beer,

Your overpaid players are just like your fans,
They're not "proper" lads, they're all hairdos and tans,
If they can't get a woman they show no remorse,
They just jump in a field and make love to a horse,

Well it's time to be quiet now and shut your big gobs,
You thought you were better - you arrogant snobs,
Getting beaten by Burnley has left you in tears,
Now you can stop bleating on about "34 years."
