JUNIOR Stanislas has revealed he would love to stay at Burnley, but is happy to put his future on hold until the Clarets’ future is confirmed.

The winger has been influential in Sean Dyche’s side clawing back the gap on long-time leaders Leicester City.

A goal and three assists in his last four games, prompting a return to the starting line-up at Charlton last weekend, has put Burnley in a position where they can topple the Foxes tomorrow.

Stanislas’ fantastic form has come at the right time, helping to cement a top two place. Out of contract in the summer, there is also the small matter of playing for his Turf Moor future.

But while the former West Ham wide man would welcome a return to the Premier League, he insists his only focus for now is getting Burnley there.

“My contract’s up at the end of the season but I’m not really thinking about that honestly,” said Stanislas, who came to East Lancashire with newborn twins after leaving the Hammers almost three years ago.

“The twins were born and we came straight up, so this is home for them now.

“My family’s happy and settled.

“I feel good here, I feel comfortable here, and if a decision is reached I would like to stay here.

“But that’s probably for another time, it’s secondary.

“I’ve just got to work hard, eight games to go now and every game is a massive game.

“We’ve got to try to get the points and leave that (contract) until later.

“The most important thing is getting three points from the games coming up.”

Tomorrow’s is a big one, with the visit of Leicester.

After making his first start since early December at The Valley last weekend, continuing in the team on Tuesday – and scoring in the 2-0 win over Doncaster – Stanislas is just happy to be playing his part.

“It has been frustrating at times, every player wants to play but at the same time for any player that’s been on the bench I think just looking in you can see what the team’s done so you can’t really complain to be honest,” he said, recognising the level of competition in the wide areas.

“There’s five wingers and every one has got quality. It’s just what the manager decides really because obviously two can play and the other three are ready at any time to go on and hopefully change the game for us.

“Sometimes chances are few and far between so you’ve got to be patient and then when your time comes you obviously try to take it.”
