Burnley's Trippier likely to miss crucial Leicester clash

This Is Lancashire: Kieran Trippier Kieran Trippier

KIERAN Trippier is likely to miss Burnley's top of the table clash with Leicester on Saturday as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury.

Clarets top scorer Danny Ings is also still sidelined with an ankle injury while Dean Marney begins a two-game suspension.

But striker Ashley Barnes will be fit to face the Foxes.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche said: "Tripps is getting closer, we have to be sensible with that one. We don't think it's long term but maybe it's too quick for Saturday, we'll have to make that decision.

"We don't have a midweek game so we'll have to make a decision with the physios. Danny will be slightly longer but he's going nicely - we still expect his recovery to go as planned."

"Dean Marney will miss the game, the others came through very well. Barnes came off as a precaution."

The absence of Marney will force Dyche into a re-shuffle in midfield with David Edgar likely to start alongside David Jones.

The Clarets chief could also choose to move Scott Arfield inside and bring Michael Kightly or Keith Treacy onto the right wing.

Edgar is not a midfielder. Him n jones don't av enough manoeuvreability in the middle of the park. He was like a fish out of water at Huddersfield when he played there hence was taken off at half time. Arfield inside with kights on the wing sounds like a better option. I trust dyche to av something up his sleeve...

I reckon tripps is on for Saturday. Best to keep Leicester in the dark about our line up.

McClaret says...

No need to risk him, 8 to go and rather have him fit for 7 of them.

Tippier,Ings and Marney missing in my opinion three of our best and most important players this season.Baird in,in my opinion as previously stated should have been one more.Collison whose gone on loan to Wigan would have been ideal. .Never leave a door ajar or somebody may open it,slam it tight shut, ten points is surely enough, maybe I worry too much
