BURNLEY stayed on course for the Premier League thanks to two second-half goals, reducing the gap to top spot to three points after leaders Leicester City were held to a draw with Yeovil.

Sam Vokes scored from the penalty spot to break the deadlock against Doncaster Rovers and take the Wales international up to 21 goals for the season.

Junior Stanislas then capped a man of the match performance with the second – the winger’s third of the season to seal it for the Clarets, who would wonder how they went into the break goalless after bossing the first half.

But there was only one winner once Vokes had converted his second penalty in as many games, following a foul on Ashley Barnes.

The result means Burnley head into Saturday’s televised clash with leaders Leicester knowing that a victory could take them top of the table.
