BURNLEY have resisted requests from the authorities to move the kick-off time of their home match against Leeds United on Saturday, March 15.

The game will start at 3pm as planned after the Clarets opted not to switch the kick-off time of the Championship match to lunchtime.

A club statement said: “Burnley Football Club has been advised by various authorities to move the high profile match against Leeds United at Turf Moor forward to lunchtime.

“The club has considered this advice, but has opted to retain the original kick-off time.

“The game will take place, as planned, at 3pm on Saturday, March 15, 2014.”

Clarets chief executive Lee Hoos, said “We appreciate and understand the concerns of the authorities.

“However we view this match as a great opportunity for the fans of both clubs to show that 3pm kick-offs of high profile matches are perfectly manageable.

“The majority of fans simply want to come and enjoy a game of football and I am sure they will be encouraging their fellow supporters to confine themselves to doing just that.”

Well done BFC!!! It's about time clubs stuck to "traditional" kick-off times in the face of pressure from the "authorities" and tv channels wanting to optimise viewing figures. I don't want to go to games on Saturday lunchtime or Friday night or any other weird and wonderful time/day. I particularly hate Monday night football, nobody should watch football on Monday night. It's the one thing (even more than relegation) that I fear should we get promoted. The kick-off times/days in the prem are ridiculous.

Well done Burnley FC for having the stones to stand up to Lancashire Police for a change.

Maybe the days of travelling under our own steam to Rovers might not be too far away....?

Have to agree with all the above positive comments. Let's hope there is no trouble, then we can make a stand against the local derby kick off times next season.
Before anybody says we will not meet next season, don't bet on it. But then again can't see Burnley going up.

Yes it would be great to see Burnley v Blackburn games kick off at 3.00pm on a Saturday. Regarding your other comment Burnley just might go up. Burnley and Chelsea the only two teams in English League football unbeaten at home this season. Leicester are good but can they maintain their current trend of rescuing themselves with very late goals and QPR are short of fire power but have the money to get a big name in on loan. Let’s see.

Whereas you probably beat yourself on a regular basis, such is your lack of ability to form a relationship with a female / horse / vegetable.
