Jones tops Burnley ratings for January

DAVID Jones edged a close race to top the Lancashire Telegraph’s Burnley player ratings for January.

Jones gained the highest average ratings from Clarets reporter Suzanne Geldard this month, picking up close to eight out of 10 per game.

The midfielder received nine out of 10 in the win at Yeovil as well as eight against Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.

Dean Marney, Sam Vokes and Danny Ings tied for second place in the average ratings, with Tom Heaton and Kieran Trippier not far behind in joint fifth.

Jones is fast becoming one of the best midfield players in the Championship, and has fully justified his decision to step up from mid-table Blackburn Rovers to genuine promotion candidates Burnley. A goal in the derby would be a nice touch.
