SEAN Dyche has become Burnley’s first manager to scoop consecutive manager of the month awards – and England under 21s star Danny Ings has picked up the player of the month prize.

Dyche, who also claimed the manager of the month honour in September honour, said it was testament to the work of his staff and players.

He said: “It’s nice to be recognised on behalf of the group because the players.

“We’ve had the best start in 116 years – it’s fantastic to have that marker in a club with such a rich history and for me to get two manager of the month awards on the trot, which is another fantastic marker for a young manager earning his spurs.

“I take it graciously on behalf of myself, the staff, the players and the club.”

Of recognition for Ings, both domestically and internationally, Dyche added: “I think he's deserving of it.

“He's a young player who's found a nice vein of form, he's always looking to learn and always looking to demand from himself – at times too much – and he's enjoying his football.

“It's another nice shift forward with him getting into another squad.

“I think he was already on the right lines (beforehand) but it's good for him to get that mental marker, whether he fits in and how he fits in at the top end of his peer group - all of those things that are beyond just performing.

“There are a lot of things that go with a professional's life that are beyond when the whistle blows.

“He came out of it last time and delivered very good performances again, scored very very good goals and he's into another squad.”
