YOUTH CUP: Manchester City 2 Burnley 0
10:00pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in Sport
TWO goals in the last 10 minutes saw Burnley knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by Manchester City tonight.
The young Clarets were made up largely of first team scholars and a smattering of 16-year-olds who had gone from the exam room to the Etihad dressing room, where they faced another tough test.
But they can be proud of the way they handled a team consisting of players with first team experience, including one who cost the Premier League champions more than £2m, and that ultimately proved the difference.
Marcos Lopes beat Alex Whitmore for pace and stroked the ball across Jakovlevs and into the bottom right corner to give City a 77th minute lead.
And a touch of class sealed it for City 10 minutes later as the £2.4m 17-year-old Jose Angel Pozo cut inside from the right, shifted the ball onto his left foot and bent an exquisite finish home to wrap up the tie.

Only 65 days till the Burnley first team will AGAIN lose to the mighty ex champions of 1995!
