FULL-TIME: Barnsley 1, Burnley 0
5:12pm Saturday 5th January 2013 in Sport
TEN-MAN Burnley exited the FA Cup at the first hurdle after a mistake by veteran goalkeeper Brian Jensen.
The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw and a replay until the 85th minute, when Scott Golbourne looped a free kick from the left at Jensen's goal.
It looked harmless for the long-serving stopper, who has only played in cup competitions for the Clarets this season. But the Dane somehow allowed the ball to hit the crossbar, and substitute Danny Rose converted the rebound from close range.
Burnley had been made to play with 10 men from the 37th minute when Brian Stock was harshly sent off for a second yellow card in 12 minutes.
But the one-man deficit never really seemed to trouble Sean Dyche's men against a poor Barnsley team, who are on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Keith Hill last weekend.
January signing Dane Richards came off the bench to make his debut, after joining from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps, and gave the Clarets a lift.
After going behind Burnley got bodies forward and balls into the box in a desperate bid to grab an equaliser, but time ran out.

Wanted to win but not overly bothered that we are out. We weren't likely to win the competition and neither are the wums lot who will come on here no doubt. A clean weekend will give the players a rest. Utc
What the hell are you going to win, not the league that's for sure, so your whole season is dependant in beating the mighty BRFC, well you cloud not do that at Turd Moor, god life's exciting at Burnley FC.
