One player who won't be joining Rovers is the former Newcastle and Portsmouth Amdy Faye, who has spent the week on trial at Brockhall.

He was recalled by Rangers - where he is currently on loan - so as far as Rovers boss Mark Hughes is concerned, that's the end of his interest.

"I had a message the other night and, by all accounts, he's been asked to go back to his club, so I think that's the end of it," he said.

Hughes is still confident of getting at least one new face in before the window closes on Thursday night, but he insists he will only sign players who are capable of slotting straight into the first team.

"I don't just want to bring in bodies," he added.

"If I go into the market and spend money, then they need to be ready to make an impact in the first team.

"At the end of the day, I've got a good team and if I'm going to improve the quality of it, then it will take a significant amount of money because it will have to be a good player to play in Blackburn Rovers' team."
