SWANLEY and District AC juniors did the club proud in this season’s Kent Fitness League cross country competition.

The season consists of six races held over a two-mile course for juniors aged between eight and 16.

This year the races were held at Swanley Park, Blean Woods, Minnis Bay, Knowle Park, Nurstead Court and Eltham Park.

Over the four age categories, the Swanley juniors swept to victory with three wins, a runner-up spot and two third places.

The winning youngsters were Isabel Kelly (U13 girls), Harriet Potter (U16 girls) and James Graves (U16 boys), with Joseph Blackmore (U13 boys) finishing in the runner-up spot.

This was Swanley and District AC’s best season yet for its junior section.

Other achievements included the youngsters taking part in the southern counties, English counties and the national cross country championships.

Harry Simmons has also earned qualification to take part in this year’s London mini marathon.

Swanley and District coaching assistant Anna Willard said: “All of the Swanley and District AC junior coaches are very proud of our young athletes who participated in this year’s Kent Fitness League.

“We had a range of abilities take part ranging from the winners, to those who ran personal bests and those running for the first time.

“The courses are extremely challenging and we have worked hard with the children to prepare for these races as best they can both physically and mentally and have been thrilled to watch the progress they have made.”
