Cambridge Harrier Sabrina Sinha competed in the Southern Inter Counties Championships for Kent on Saturday 10th December, at Lloyd Park in Croydon. Competing in the U13 Girls race Sabrina was way ahead of the field when a marshal sent her the wrong way. By the time the mistake had been realised there were 20 athletes in front of Sabrina. Determined to get back to the leader who had not taken the wrong turn Sabrina worked her way back through the field and by the finish was she was in 2nd place. In one last effort for victory she kicked hard and crossed the line in joint 1st. However the officials ruled that 1st place would officially go to the other athlete. After an official protest by the Kent team which was turned down many athletes and spectators thought that the decision was wrong and that Sabrina should indeed be the Southern Inter Counties Champion.
Cambridge Harriers veteran teams had great success at the Kent Cross Country Championships where the Over 50's & Over 60's both won 3rd place team bronze medals. The Over 40's team unfortunately were unplaced, failing to have sufficient runners even though they included Steve Brown (Over 50) due to a typographical error.
