GREENWICH athlete Sabrina Sinha has given the borough a bright start to the new London Youth Games season by winning the U13s cross country race at Parliament Hill Fields.
Nearly 1,000 youngsters from all over London competed in glorious conditions on Saturday, all watched by Team GB Olympic marathon contender Scott Overall, a former London Youth Games competitor in his early years, as was World 10,000m champion Mo Farah.
In a tightly contested race, Sinha completed the 2k course in 7m06s, just three seconds ahead of Wandsworth’s Breagha Campbell and Saskia Millard, who took silver and bronze respectively.
In the team competitions, Greenwich were fourth in the U13 girls’ class and overall across all six age groups placed 13th.
Sinha said: “I really enjoyed the race, it was my first ever London Youth Games event.
“ It means a lot to win for Greenwich. We have an excellent atmosphere with a very supportive team.
“I run a lot for Cambridge Harriers, mainly in middle distance and cross country.”
