Sinha Sisters Shine

A fine performance by the Sinha sisters provided the only spark in a Cambridge Harriers team bereft of competitors in the young athletes section at the second fixture of the Kent Cross Country League held at Tonbridge. In the U13 race Sabrina Sinha won easily to make it two wins from two this season. She was supported by Siobhan Samuel finishing in 36th place.

In the U15 race Natasha Sinha almost emulated her sister in coming 2nd running a very strong race and worth the position. Lucy Daniel was a casualty during the race with ankle problems.

The only boy was Jamie Grain who ran well to finish in 13th position in the U15 race after being near the front for the majority of the race.

In the senior mens race Dean Lacy led from start to finish eventually winning by 36 seconds. Dave Reader was the next Harrier home in 36th place in his first cross country race of the season. Just 2 places behind Dave was Mark Penny running well to finish 38th. Completing the 4 to score team was Lauris Rakickis in 57th. Jerry Carnell and Mark Cross (Team Manager) both V50 had solid runs finishing 93rd and 95th respectively. They were followed home by Pat Austin in 169th and John Corcoran in 185th.

There was once again a good turn out in the senior womens with 5 starting and this time all 5 finishing.

Carol-Ann had a baptism of fire making her debut in cross country on possibly one of the toughest courses this season in the Kent league. With Kate Aldridge missing, Hanna Webber was the first athlete home from the club finishing 49th, closly followed by Marian Hine 54th, Monica Whitefield 76th, Jackie Hicking 87th and Carol-Ann Murray 96th in a field of 103 runners.
