BECKENHAM’S Nick Kinsey won the Chilham Castle duathlon in a time of 2hr08m.

The race comprises a very scenic 10km run round the castle grounds, twice passing under the famous 150-year-old avenue of Beech trees.

In a closely fought race, Kinsey held a little in reserve on the first run, cruising round in a comfortable fourth place.

He tracked the leading trio of athletes, who were led home by Ashley Howes who finished the first hilly 10km in just under 40 minutes.

On the 25-mile bike loop the leading positions swiftly changed with Kinsey moving into second place just 200m behind the new leader Jon Bond.

Setting off on the second 5km run and everything looked done and dusted if the race continued to the form of the first run.

But seasoned campaigner Kinsey hit the overdrive button to reel in leader Bond, eventually finishing almost a minute ahead of his closest rival.
